On Making Wishes Come True!

As a mom, it is one of our major roles to make wishes come true, though as impossible as it may seem! Have you heard your child say "Mom, how I wish I can eat ice cream" and on the next trip to the grocery, you have to pass by the ice cream freezer and the next thing you'll know, you're in the counter with a container of ice cream on your cart...wish granters!

Well, this school year, among many of my son's wishes, there's particularly one that he keeps on bugging me with and that's to have his picture taken with Congressman Manny Pacquiao. He is in the same class with the Congressman's daughter and they have become quick friends. And whenever he talks about P2 (his nickname to Princess Pacquiao), it will always include his wish.

Well, the Lord has finally made his wish come true. On October 24, 2014, during General Santos Hope Christian School's second Convocation day, Jarvis and Princess will be receiving awards for their academic achievements and guess who will be going up the stage with Princess? You got it, Congressman Manny Pacquiao himself!

Look at the smile on that boy's face! The Lord was truly amazing on that day, because (1) while they were falling in line, Jarvis was just directly in front of Princess (2) no one was asking the Congressman to have his photo taken with them, Jarvis and his dad were the very first one!

I guess when you are famous, whether from sports or holding a government office, you can never run away from people's camera. So guess what happened when it was time for Princess to be awarded...

The students started getting their camera phones out, stood up, walk near to the stage and took this shot!

Congressman Pacquiao might be proud of his accomplishments in the boxing ring and/or the plans he has for our country, but for this moment, I truly believe he's prouder of his daughter who has received an Academic Excellence Award in her Chinese subject! This is Princess' 2nd Quarter at General Santos Hope Christian School and I believe her first Chinese subjects.

But for us, the true highlight of this event, aside from my son's wish came true, it is the fact that our son had received his second Academic Excellence for his Chinese class. Way to go, Jarvis! Keep up your good work and honor your Heavenly Father with all of your achievements!
